On Monday, Jamaica released new entry requirements and people are losing their minds.

Not me.

In fact, I just booked my flight to Jamaica yesterday for travel at the end of this month (more about this later).

The new requirements are really easy to follow and bring Jamaica more in line with the United States and the rest of the Caribbean.

Previously, in order to travel to Jamaica, you needed to present a negative COVID test taken with 10 days of arrival as well as a completed travel authorization.

Now, as of March 10th, you must present a negative COVID test taken with 3 days of arrival as well as a completed travel authorization.

And here is everyone’s reaction:  THREE DAYS!  We can never get results in THREE DAYS!  The world is ending….

Hang on just one minute, all you Chicken Littles.

The key factor everyone is missing is that the rapid COVID test is acceptable for entry into Jamaica.  These tests are readily available at most pharmacies such as CVS or Walgreens and you get the results the same day.

Easy peasy.

Personally, I think the three-day rule makes a lot more sense.  When people are allowed to test 10 days before arrival, that leaves a lot of time for someone to become infected before traveling.  Three days makes the likelihood of someone becoming infected between their test date and their travel date a lot smaller.

So, just get your rapid test (which is free in most cases) and go on your merry way.

No problem, mon!

Now, here’s the scoop on my trip to Jamaica.  It’s going to be AMAZING!
